Hiya- Some folks have been asking me about how I'm feeling, weird symptoms, and the like. So here is an overall update:
  • Weight: Exciting news, I've officially surpassed my freshman year in college weight. 17 lbs and counting.  My mom tells me she gained a TOTAL of 17 pounds when she was preggo with me. I guess I didn't get those genes. Or I did, but I ate through them. Shocking.
  • Cravings: Not so much anymore. Not like at the beginning. I just like food. Specifically McD's sundaes ($1 and on my route to the car). Oh and I think I'm eating more oranges/OJ than I did pre-pregnancy.
  • Symptoms:  I don't really like when people/books call them 'symptoms'. I don't have a disease. I'm growing a child for goodness sakes. 'Side effects' I guess?
    • Heartburn- I thought I had heartburn before but not like this. This is a whole new thing altogether. Last week, I felt like I had acid sitting at the back of my throat 24-7. TMI?
    • Backaches- Lord have mercy. I can often be mistaken for a 85 year old women when I stand up and after I've been hitting the mall or the grocery store for more than 15 minutes. I thank God every day that we have a car to take to work. Yes, I know walking is good for you, and I do plenty of it the rest of the day. Don't worry. My dear friend Angela in CT is sending a belly/back brace back with Brad this week and I can't wait to try it out.
  • Baby movement: As I've mentioned in earlier posts, this is by far my favorite thing about being preggo. It is so darn cool. I don't think it is possible to be bored when I can just sit here and feel and SEE him move. Indescribable really. I keep trying to take a movie of my belly moving around but he always seems to get camera shy when I hit Record.  It's also kind of weird/creepy to look at a video view of my belly up close. That may be a family-only video share.
  • Name: Ladies and Gentleman, we have a name! And I can't tell you how many times I've slipped and typed it in a blog post before I've given the final edit once over.  As you might have guessed, it will be top secret until he makes his debut.
  • Size: Not me, him. He weighs over a pound now and is the size of a grapefruit! He also is supposedly looking less alien-like as his skin is less translucent due to the developing bloodv vessels, and he's starting to pack on the pounds (or ounces) in cute baby fat :)
I think that covers it for now. Oh yes, one other question I get a lot: Are you more homesick now that you're pregnant. That would be a definite yes. Ridiculously so. But it's all part of the 'experience', right? There are a lot worse places to be, and I am very lucky to have a great hubby with me for this adventure.  And I have to admit time is going quickly. It's hard to believe this is our 8th month here already. And after Baby D is born, we'll have 3 months until we go to the US for most of the month of December,  and then we'll likely have around 9 months left before the gig is up! But who's counting ;)
